The Kitchen, Part I
So it has begun. Our kitchen is a wreck, and our curb looks like a dump. We wil be eating out for some time. Do not walk in our house without shoes.
These are some of the new facts of life in our home. But, I tell myself daily, it will all be worth it one day soon.
Previous owners installed a drop ceiling, some really nasty cabinets, tile flooring and wavy stucco walls for an overall oppressive feel and appearance. The room was not very functional, and it was soooo hard to keep clean. The worst part, was that the kitchen was and is the largest single space in the house, but because of the way the previous owners divided it with counters, it was all but useless, and was very frustrating.
But now we are doing something about it. The general plan is this - rip everything out, and start over. So far, we’ve removed the cabinets from one wall, taken out the ceiling, and removed the light fixtures from the ceiling. The next step is to replace the ceiling and light fixtures, then work on ripping out the remaing cabinets and walls.
Should be fun. We’ll see how it goes.
