It Always Matters, Regardless of Size

without comments

I work for a very large company these days, but before coming to work here, I worked for a very small company.

I used to complain about things at the small company - about how we would have fewer technology issues if we were larger, that our other systemic and process related issues would be lessened also…

Turns out, in this case at least, that my hopes could not have been further from the truth. The new company has almost the exact same issues, but BIGGER.

The thing I find most amazing is that I must have worked for a damn fine company before this one. In the seven months that I have worked here, the words “We did this at my old company” have crossed my lips countless times. It’s really quite astounding - a multi-billion dollar corporation with tens of thousands of employees, vs. a little ole joint with about 60 employees…

Then again, maybe it isn’t so surpriseing - a smaller company can be more nimble and all that.
