These Are the States I know, I know, These Are The States I Know
I’ve been to all the states in red. Neat, huh?
You can visit World 66 and make one of these for yourself, if you like. They also have an open travel guide.
Regarding the State of Unions
To be perfectly honest - I didn’t even watch last night. I just do not like to listen to him. I did, however, read it, and about it, this morning.
Mostly, more of the same old stuff.
I really don’t want to drag this off into a downward political spiral, but I would like to comment a bit about W’s comments during the State of the Union Address last night.
Bush said, “if judges insist on forcing their arbitrary will upon the people, the only alternative left to the people would be the constitutional process.”
Taken out of context, I wonder how many people would still agree with his words. I mean, “Arbitrary will?” I hardly think that a direct application of written law is arbitrary. Didn’t we all agree way back in the Declaration of Independence that All men were created equal? And didn’t we further state that certain rights are unalienable: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
Oh, but only for the men. No, wait - we changed that, now its only for the white folks. No, now we’ve changed that, too. Now its only for the straight folks.
Seriously, isn’t one of the roles of government to handle some of these higher-level ethical issues for us? What if the people are wrong?
ps: The State of the Union Drinking Game (via lyd). Wish I had known about that yesterday.
This Is Speedingmotorcycle
Welcome. This is speedingmotorcycle. There is nothing here to do with speeding, motorcycles, Yo La Tengo, or any combination of the three.
Unless, of course, there is.
