Revision-ism
I’ve been doing some thinking about time, order, my place in it and my mangement of it. At least in relation to (this is) durkin.org. And here it is: I tend to go for days1 without writing anything2. But things happen in that time, things that I want to capture here in some way, but they sometimes seem stale, and often the thought of rehashing is not so good and then there is the whole issue of time / continuity and all that.
But the thing is, these are my stories and I should tell them when and how I like. So, if I miss some time, or if something later occurs to me that I want to go back and enter into the proper order of events, I’ll just do it. I will (gasp) edit the dates and fix it up all pretty so no one ever knows (not that they would care if they did).
With one definite rule - I will not post an entry prior to October 9, 2000, the earliest remaining entry on (this is) durkin.org3. Even though there was a site before, and some data lost, I like the idea of a definite begining.
For the puritst out there, and for my own record-keeping, I have created a new category called revised, and I will mark all date-revised entries as such. That way, I get to have a flow, a timeline that is consistent, but I also keep tabs on where I’ve cheated.
- OK, weeks and months «
- A habit I am trying to break. Again. «
- That is, prior to this entry, which was actually on tripod.com, back before bruised orange «
